Wine Night Series - May 25 - Groovy Californians

At each Special Order Wine Night, we’ll uncork two different wines to sample and provide a little inside knowledge - this might include insights from the local vendors, online conversations with the winemakers or expert notes from our in-house wine enthusiast, Becky.

Special order night is the only time these wines will be available by the sample pour or by the glass. Remaining inventory will hit the shelves after the release night so you can come back and enjoy them while they last.

Limited tickets available, each ticket includes two sample pours and a tasty snack from the Tea Zaanti shelves (we’ll mix that up too). By the glass or bottle will be available too. Join us, meet new friends and discover new wines.

Check out the event page to mark your calendar for all upcoming releases!

Tickets are $15, but Utah doesn't allow us to charge for wine online. $5 due at the door!

Meet the Winemaker - Agri Segretum - April 18

Becky and I are very excited to welcome Lorenzo de Monaco to Tea Zaanti. Some of you may have been lucky enough to taste a couple of his wines are our Natural Wine Party in September. This is your opportunity to visit with Lorenzo and try four of his wines that we will pair perfectly with small bites to make for a wonderful Tuesday evening.

Società Agricola Segretum is a remarkably charming small estate in the heart of the Umbrian countryside along the Tiber River Valley. Ready to leave behind their city life, Lorenzo de Monaco and Eileen Holland found this 'secret' spot (La Segreta) in 2009 and purchased about 30 hectares of land that would be planted with just over 5 hectares of indigenous grapes, as well as olive groves and a lovely agriturismo.

A sincere respect for the land means everything is done by hand, with extreme dedication to the local traditions, and all of the crops that they harvest are certified organic to give extra regimen to their practices. At around 300 meters above sea level, the perfect Mediterranean climate suits their southwest-facing slope of vines perfectly for around 20,000 bottles annually, made mainly from the esteemed Sangiovese grape.

Wine Night Series - Meet the Winemaker - April 15

We are very excited to return the favor to Jure Stekar here in Salt Lake City. Becky and I had an opportunity in January to visit and stay at Jure's beautiful vineyard and winery.

The Štekar family with humble beginnings in the Goriska Brda zone of Slovenia back in 1985, when Roman Štekar began the winery alongside a small agriturismo. Today, his son Jure runs this lovely natural winery in the stunning hills of western Slovenia, being at least the 4th generation of winemakers but with family history dating back on the property to the 1700's. Originally, they were farmers for a nearby cooperative until the cellar took form, and now they are dedicated to the best fruit they can grow; farming 11 hectares of vines nestled within another 22 hectares of cherry orchards and forest. In 2006, the winery received its organic certification, showing further their commitment to low-impact start-to-finish wine making which they have supported since the beginning. the vines are the most important factor that lead to the incredible depth of Jure's skin-fermented range, and are the only part of the process that ever sees any sulfite use, and the rest of the process is handling the perfect grapes in the most natural way possible.

A wide range in types of woods and their sizes are the predominant vessels in the cellar for natural fermentations as well as aging for development. With no filtration or fining, the Štekar wines result as pure expression of the local varieties with a soft and delicious approach, making for incredible natural skin-contact wines in the region that is possibly most famous for the category.
