Yerba mate (pronounced mah-tay) is a species of holly native to South America, and it has long been enjoyed in social activities there. A common South American custom involves drinking maté from a shared hollow gourd (guampa or mate) with a metal straw (bombilla). The taste of yerba maté by itself is somewhat vegetal and grassy, similar to some green teas. With more caffeine than coffee, this is sure to open your eyes to the benefits of herbal teas. Yerba maté also contains 24 minerals and vitamins, 15 amino acids, and antioxidants.100% Certified Organic.
