Rich, smooth, and lightly sweet with traditional malt tones. A wonderful reserve-grade Indian tea that is outstanding on its own, but also stands up well to milk and sugar.
Assam, India is the largest tea-growing region in the world, and teas from this area account for roughly 50% of India’s production. With abundant rainfall and tropical temperatures, the camellia sinensis plant grows vigorously lush from spring until late fall. Assam teas are known for their malty finish and our direct trade Assam Reserve is no exception. Note the golden flecks mixed in with the rich, brown leaf; these are the tips of new leaves - the lighter color is due to the different amounts of caffeine and other tea chemicals contained in the leaves, which do not oxidize the same as the larger leaves.
Steeping Instructions: Pour 6 oz. heated water (208-212˚F) over 1 teaspoon tea leaves and steep 3-5 minutes. Remove leaves and enjoy. Re-steep as desired.
